Carpet Installation in Bellaire

We install wall-to-wall carpet the way it holds up: new tack strip set at the right gap, a pad matched to the carpet, seams sealed and placed out of the light, and every room power-stretched so it stays flat for years instead of rippling by next summer.

Carpet That Stays Flat Starts Underneath It

Most carpet complaints have nothing to do with the carpet itself. Ripples, gapping at doorways and seams you can see from across the room come from how it was put down: a knee kicker used where a power stretcher belonged, a pad that was too thick and too soft, or a seam cut without sealer on the edges.

We have been in business 25+ years, and the habits that matter here are small ones. We set tack strip a little less than the carpet's thickness off the wall so the edge tucks cleanly. We match pad density and thickness to what the carpet maker specifies. We plan seams on paper before the roll is cut.

We work in Bellaire and nearby towns such as West University Place and Meadows Place, most often over concrete slabs, and we are insured for the work we do inside your home.

What Our Carpet Installation Covers

  1. 01

    Removal and haul-away

We pull up the old carpet, pad and staples, scrape the slab or subfloor, and take the debris with us.

  2. 02

    New tack strip

Old strip loses its grip as the pins dull and the wood dries out. We replace it, nailing it to concrete or wood with the pins angled toward the wall.

  3. 03

    Pad matched to the carpet

A thick, soft pad feels plush on day one but lets the backing flex until it wrinkles. We choose a pad within the carpet maker's thickness and density limits.

  4. 04

    Planned, sealed seams

We lay seams parallel to incoming window light and out of main walkways, match the pile direction, and bond them with hot-melt tape and a bead of seam sealer so the edges do not fray.

  5. 05

    Power stretching

Each room is stretched wall to wall with a power stretcher, and the knee kicker is used only to set the edges.

  6. 06

    Transitions and doors

We fit metal or wood transitions where carpet meets tile or hardwood, and point out any doors that will need trimming to clear the new pile.

Signs Your Carpet Is Due for Replacement

  • Ripples that come back

If wrinkles return after a restretch, the backing has usually delaminated or the pad underneath has broken down.

  • Seams opening up

A visible line or fuzzy edge along a seam means the tape bond has failed or the edges were never sealed.

  • Matted traffic lanes

Paths from the door to the sofa that stay crushed after vacuuming show the fibers have lost their twist.

  • Crumbling or stained pad

Old foam pad turns to dust under foot, and pet accidents soak through to it, holding odor that surface cleaning cannot reach.

  • Edges pulling loose

Carpet lifting at doorways or along walls points to worn tack strip or an install that was never stretched tight.

How Installation Day Runs

  1. 1

    Measure and seam plan

We measure each room and draw a seam diagram around the roll width, usually 12 feet, so you know where seams will fall before anything is ordered.

  2. 2

    Tear-out and prep

Old carpet and pad come up. On slabs we scrape off adhesive and check for cracks or ridges that would show through the new carpet.

  3. 3

    Strip and pad

New tack strip goes down around the perimeter, then the pad is laid and stapled or glued with its seams running across the carpet seams, not on top of them.

  4. 4

    Seam, stretch and trim

We seam the carpet, power-stretch each room, trim at the walls, tuck the edges and install the transitions.

  5. 5

    Cleanup and walkthrough

We vacuum, collect the scraps and walk the rooms with you, checking seams and doorways together.

What Shapes the Price of Carpet Installation

Your quote depends on the room layout as much as the carpet you pick. Because carpet comes off a roll in fixed widths, the shape of your rooms decides how much is cut away. We explain every line by phone and on site so nothing comes as a surprise.

Square footage and waste
Odd room shapes and closets can add offcuts, and matching the pile direction across rooms sometimes means buying extra length.
Carpet and pad choice
Fiber, construction and face weight move the carpet price, and denser pad costs more than basic foam.
Prep and removal
Old glue-down carpet, slab repair or extra floor prep takes more time than pulling up a stretched-in carpet and pad.
Stairs and furniture
Stairs are measured and cut step by step, and full rooms of furniture add labor. Our Stair Flooring page covers stairs in more detail.

Carpet Installation Questions

Can I reuse my old pad?

We do not recommend it. Old pad has already compressed and may hold dust or pet odor. It is also often the wrong thickness for new carpet, and that leads to wrinkles.

Will I see the seams?

Most rooms wider than the roll need at least one seam. We place them away from windows and main walkways, match the pile, and seal the edges, so in most rooms they are hard to find.

How long does a typical job take?

Most homes with a few bedrooms and a living area are finished in a day. Extra prep, stairs or many small rooms can add time, and we will tell you what to expect when we measure.

What happens if ripples show up later?

We give a 1-year workmanship warranty on all installations. If the carpet loosens or a seam lifts because of how we installed it, we come back and correct it.

When can we walk on it and move furniture back?

Stretched-in carpet can be walked on right away. Furniture can go back the same day, though we suggest lifting heavy pieces rather than dragging them across the new pile.
